Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI), which rose 2.96% or 40.90 points to trade at 1421.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 1.21% or 7.85 points to end at 657.20 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) was up 1.17% or 19.00 points to 1640.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which fell 2.35% or 25.30 points to trade at 1051.15 at the close. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) declined 2.19% or 58.85 points to end at 2623.70 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was down 1.93% or 72.75 points to 3703.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 2.79% to 1422.70, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was up 1.28% to settle at 1643.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 0.96% to close at 960.50.
The worst performers were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 2.08% to 507.00 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which lost 2.04% to settle at 3699.95 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 1.88% to 2630.45 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 807 to 749 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1311 rose and 1284 declined, while 125 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.67% to 11.2750.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.47% or 5.70 to $1224.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.34% or 0.16 to hit $46.91 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.20 to trade at $49.48 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.23% to 64.715, while EUR/INR fell 0.32% to 73.4548.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 96.02.
