Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Real Estate and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.70%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which rose 4.35% or 15.65 points to trade at 377.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) added 3.67% or 24.60 points to end at 696.60 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was up 2.67% or 35.40 points to 1362.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which fell 19.27% or 46.20 points to trade at 195.35 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) declined 6.04% or 79.10 points to end at 1228.50 and Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) was down 5.43% or 2.35 points to 40.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 5.05% to 377.40, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 2.76% to settle at 1362.40 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 1.65% to close at 1979.50.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 6.15% to 1228.95 in late trade, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which lost 5.21% to settle at 40.95 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 3.27% to 116.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1038 to 530 and 65 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1509 fell and 833 advanced, while 168 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.35% or 15.65 to 377.25. Shares in Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) fell to 5-year lows; falling 19.27% or 46.20 to 195.35. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.04% or 79.10 to 1228.50. Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) rose to 52-week highs; up 5.05% or 18.15 to 377.40. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.15% or 80.55 to 1228.95.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.42% to 17.2275.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.15% or 2.25 to $1510.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $52.55 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.13 to trade at $58.19 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 71.045, while EUR/INR rose 0.45% to 78.3520.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 98.407.
