Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Auto and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.45% to hit a new 6-months low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which rose 5.36% or 125.45 points to trade at 2454.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 4.21% or 12.80 points to end at 318.75 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was up 4.58% or 18.95 points to 432.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which fell 13.19% or 28.00 points to trade at 184.35 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 7.87% or 64.05 points to end at 749.50 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was down 4.74% or 1049.05 points to 21085.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which rose 4.52% to 318.00, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was up 2.59% to settle at 1713.45 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 2.44% to close at 211.90.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 13.40% to 184.25 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which lost 12.34% to settle at 101.20 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 3.95% to 1202.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1015 to 598 and 50 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1536 fell and 988 advanced, while 143 ended unchanged.

Shares in Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) fell to 5-year lows; losing 13.40% or 28.50 to 184.25. Shares in Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) fell to 3-years lows; falling 12.34% or 14.25 to 101.20.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.95% to 19.7550.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 1.30 to $1189.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.87% or 0.65 to hit $74.94 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.19% or 1.00 to trade at $84.91 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.62% to 74.335, while EUR/INR fell 0.06% to 85.0585.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 95.72.
