Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Consumer Durables and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.42%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI), which rose 3.07% or 55.95 points to trade at 1880.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) added 2.49% or 54.25 points to end at 2230.10 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was up 2.29% or 11.05 points to 493.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK), which fell 3.16% or 14.35 points to trade at 439.40 at the close. GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) declined 2.94% or 3.10 points to end at 102.45 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was down 2.93% or 16.30 points to 540.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 2.95% to 1878.50, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was up 2.42% to settle at 2228.00 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 2.36% to close at 493.45.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 3.13% to 539.15 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 3.10% to settle at 439.70 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 3.01% to 961.75 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1087 to 516 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1584 fell and 929 advanced, while 150 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.12% to 24.9425 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.59% or 10.65 to $1814.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.09% or 0.83 to hit $38.79 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.79% or 0.76 to trade at $41.59 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.13% to 75.241, while EUR/INR rose 0.25% to 84.9960.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 96.642.
