Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Consumer Durables and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.22%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which rose 4.31% or 9.25 points to trade at 224.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) added 1.57% or 2.70 points to end at 174.75 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) was up 1.41% or 14.75 points to 1060.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 3.71% or 14.40 points to trade at 374.20 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 2.91% or 26.55 points to end at 885.35 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was down 1.97% or 64.75 points to 3212.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 4.26% to 223.95, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was up 1.83% to settle at 174.90 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which gained 1.23% to close at 639.60.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 3.50% to 374.70 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which lost 2.08% to settle at 3212.60 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 2.02% to 330.10 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 976 to 630 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1478 fell and 1120 advanced, while 173 ended unchanged.
Shares in AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) rose to 3-years highs; up 1.23% or 7.80 to 639.60.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.74% to 12.4075.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.38% or 4.50 to $1198.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.33% or 0.90 to hit $68.73 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.36% or 1.02 to trade at $75.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.48% to 69.945, while EUR/INR rose 0.22% to 81.0790.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 95.30.
