Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Auto, Power and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.18%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM), which rose 8.43% or 1,825.65 points to trade at 23,480.00 at the close. Meanwhile, UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) added 4.24% or 275.30 points to end at 6,770.80 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) was up 2.89% or 24.55 points to 874.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which fell 2.60% or 11.90 points to trade at 445.85 at the close. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) declined 2.13% or 83.75 points to end at 3,845.65 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was down 1.70% or 18.85 points to 1,089.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which rose 4.13% to 6,767.95, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 0.71% to settle at 893.85 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 0.71% to close at 3,151.10.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.69% to 1,089.90 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 1.32% to settle at 1,289.25 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.15% to 8,782.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1139 to 709 and 43 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2056 rose and 1254 declined, while 124 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.81% to 19.37.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.10% or 1.75 to $1,714.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.59% or 0.51 to hit $87.39 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.65% or 0.60 to trade at $93.43 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 79.92, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 79.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 110.50.
