Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Power and Green Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty added 0.22%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Tata Power Co. Ltd (NSE:TTPW), which rose 3.79% or 2.65 points to trade at 72.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto Limited (NSE:BAJA) added 3.29% or 72.75 points to end at 2286.30 and ICICI Bank Ltd. (NSE:ICBK) was up 2.58% or 7.45 points to 295.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NMDC Ltd (NSE:NMDC), which fell 2.58% or 3.05 points to trade at 115.10 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NSE:TCS) declined 2.55% or 65.50 points to end at 2505.80 and Vedanta Ltd (NSE:VDAN) was down 2.23% or 4.20 points to 183.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which rose 3.53% to 2285.55, Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which was up 3.49% to settle at 72.60 and ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which gained 2.53% to close at 295.85.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 2.29% to 2512.05 in late trade, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which lost 2.14% to settle at 116.70 and Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was down 2.03% to 421.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 838 to 573 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 414 fell and 305 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in NMDC Ltd (NSE:NMDC) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.58% or 3.05 to 115.10. Shares in Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.14% or 2.55 to 116.70. Shares in Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.03% or 8.75 to 421.60.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was down 1.84% to 17.4775.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.12% or 1.40 to $1179.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.00% or 0.60 to hit $60.16 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.41 to trade at $64.69 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.20% to 64.085, while EUR/INR fell 0.37% to 71.7420.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 95.41.
