Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Consumer Durables and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.51% to hit a new 52-week high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd . (NS:TAMO), which rose 7.07% or 38.85 points to trade at 588.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) added 6.14% or 21.60 points to end at 373.50 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK) was up 6.12% or 36.70 points to 635.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which fell 1.22% or 30.75 points to trade at 2484.05 at the close. Coal India Limited (NS:COAL) declined 1.04% or 3.45 points to end at 328.85 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (NS:TTPW) was down 0.63% or 0.50 points to 78.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which rose 7.19% to 589.35, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 6.14% to settle at 635.95 and ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which gained 4.25% to close at 272.45.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.17% to 2484.05 in late trade, Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which lost 1.11% to settle at 328.80 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which was down 0.32% to 78.40 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 932 to 533 and 68 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1012 rose and 601 declined, while 73 ended unchanged.

Shares in AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) rose to 52-week highs; up 6.14% or 36.80 to 635.95.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.47% to 12.7500 a new 52-week low.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.74% or 9.85 to $1336.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.06% or 0.47 to hit $44.91 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.67% or 0.32 to trade at $47.31 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.16% to 66.540, while EUR/INR rose 0.29% to 74.3190.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 95.59.
