Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Metals, Public Sector Undertakings and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.11%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.97%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC), which rose 9.40% or 37.55 points to trade at 436.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) added 9.26% or 14.00 points to end at 165.20 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 8.64% or 14.00 points to 176.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN), which fell 3.87% or 40.70 points to trade at 1010.25 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Limited (NS:HROM) declined 3.03% or 97.90 points to end at 3138.00 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (NS:HDFC) was down 2.46% or 33.25 points to 1317.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which rose 9.27% to 436.85, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 8.41% to settle at 281.60 and Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which gained 6.85% to close at 564.25.
The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 3.50% to 1014.50 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which lost 2.82% to settle at 3144.55 and Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which was down 2.34% to 1493.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1207 to 299 and 25 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1996 rose and 708 declined, while 126 ended unchanged.
Shares in TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.40% or 37.55 to 436.90. Shares in Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) rose to 52-week highs; up 8.64% or 14.00 to 176.10. Shares in TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.27% or 37.05 to 436.85. Shares in State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) rose to 52-week highs; up 8.41% or 21.85 to 281.60.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 6.99% to 15.4575.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.62% or 7.95 to $1281.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $45.27 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.80% or 0.37 to trade at $46.73 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.03% to 66.544, while EUR/INR fell 0.01% to 72.5530.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 98.86.
