Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.08%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.99%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were ACC Ltd (NS:ACC), which rose 7.46% or 111.55 points to trade at 1607.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) added 4.36% or 49.25 points to end at 1180.10 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 4.10% or 163.20 points to 4141.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which fell 3.29% or 46.35 points to trade at 1361.50 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 1.31% or 7.40 points to end at 557.05 and Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN) was down 0.92% or 5.85 points to 627.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which rose 3.17% to 413.20, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 2.55% to settle at 498.20 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which gained 2.54% to close at 1730.60.
The worst performers were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which was down 3.33% to 1362.15 in late trade, Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which lost 1.30% to settle at 556.10 and NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) which was down 0.51% to 166.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 932 to 647 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1568 rose and 1262 declined, while 142 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.29% or 46.35 to 1361.50. Shares in Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.36% or 49.25 to 1180.10. Shares in UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) rose to all time highs; rising 4.10% or 163.20 to 4141.55. Shares in Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.33% or 46.95 to 1362.15. Shares in Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.54% or 42.95 to 1730.60.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.77% to 11.6250.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.25% or 16.13 to $1272.97 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.93% or 0.46 to hit $50.08 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.48 to trade at $52.92 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.28% to 64.456, while EUR/INR rose 0.87% to 69.9470.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.71% at 98.95.
