India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.54%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.54% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.48%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK), which rose 2.85% or 13.35 points to trade at 481.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB) added 2.41% or 17.85 points to end at 757.50 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 2.17% or 19.05 points to 895.90 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Grasim Industries Ltd. (NS:GRAS), which fell 1.28% or 46.20 points to trade at 3575.00 at the close. ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) declined 0.76% or 2.55 points to end at 334.20 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was down 0.50% or 1.65 points to 330.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 2.50% to 480.20, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 1.93% to settle at 746.55 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which gained 1.41% to close at 1366.50.

The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which was down 0.49% to 2644.40 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 0.46% to settle at 335.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.27% to 331.10 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 0 to 0; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 0 fell and 0 advanced.

The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.48% to 16.9050.

Gold for December delivery was up 0.20% or 2.20 to $1087.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.03% or 0.01 to hit $42.95 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.15% or 0.07 to trade at $46.68 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.10% to 66.000, while EUR/INR fell 0.25% to 70.8000.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 99.22.
