Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Oil & Gas and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.16%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (NS:PGRD), which rose 2.53% or 4.65 points to trade at 188.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Coal India Limited (NS:COAL) added 2.32% or 6.95 points to end at 307.00 and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (NS:BHEL) was up 2.04% or 2.50 points to 125.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which fell 3.23% or 10.05 points to trade at 300.95 at the close. Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) declined 2.40% or 1.80 points to end at 73.15 and Hero MotoCorp Limited (NS:HROM) was down 1.34% or 40.65 points to 2989.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (BO:PGRD) which rose 2.48% to 188.00, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 1.90% to settle at 455.20 and Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which gained 1.53% to close at 305.30.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.36% to 303.65 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which lost 1.37% to settle at 2987.35 and Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was down 1.23% to 481.25 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1052 to 439 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1803 rose and 888 declined, while 127 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.81% to 15.9575.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.25% or 2.85 to $1148.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.27% or 1.22 to hit $54.94 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.22% or 1.26 to trade at $58.08 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.53% to 68.316, while EUR/INR fell 0.24% to 71.1079.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.86% at 103.25.
