Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Metals, Capital Goods and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.15%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC), which rose 5.20% or 16.25 points to trade at 328.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 4.77% or 4.05 points to end at 88.95 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 2.84% or 88.20 points to 3188.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH), which fell 2.91% or 576.15 points to trade at 19237.95 at the close. Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML) declined 2.00% or 9.25 points to end at 453.00 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK) was down 1.84% or 7.95 points to 424.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which rose 5.24% to 328.45, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which was up 4.77% to settle at 88.95 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 1.92% to close at 87.50.
The worst performers were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 1.71% to 424.85 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 1.44% to settle at 1201.10 and ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which was down 1.20% to 222.80 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1018 to 404 and 52 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 526 rose and 285 declined, while 37 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.72% to 17.3450.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.25% or 3.10 to $1226.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.93% or 1.05 to hit $36.94 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.35% or 0.89 to trade at $38.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.38% to 66.675, while EUR/INR rose 0.00% to 75.6400.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.32% at 94.91.
