Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Metals, Real Estate and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK), which rose 4.09% or 20.10 points to trade at 512.10 at the close. Meanwhile, TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC) added 2.78% or 14.45 points to end at 535.05 and Indiabulls (NS:INBF) was up 1.90% or 20.45 points to 1095.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM), which fell 2.45% or 23.85 points to trade at 948.35 at the close. Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) declined 2.21% or 6.05 points to end at 268.30 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was down 1.57% or 8.55 points to 536.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 3.48% to 511.70, TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was up 2.85% to settle at 534.70 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which gained 1.59% to close at 361.65.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 1.40% to 435.95 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 1.39% to settle at 272.55 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 1.23% to 538.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1044 to 511 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1590 rose and 924 declined, while 150 ended unchanged.
Shares in TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.78% or 14.45 to 535.05. Shares in TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.85% or 14.80 to 534.70.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.07% to 11.3825.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.14% or 1.73 to $1247.37 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.83% or 0.37 to hit $45.11 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.76% or 0.36 to trade at $47.90 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.11% to 64.580, while EUR/INR rose 0.35% to 73.6685.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 95.59.
