Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Power and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.03%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (NS:IOC), which rose 2.86% or 12.25 points to trade at 440.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE) added 2.06% or 7.00 points to end at 347.50 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (NS:LART) was up 2.05% or 35.05 points to 1744.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Limited (NS:HROM), which fell 3.50% or 118.90 points to trade at 3282.35 at the close. Indiabulls (NS:INBF) declined 3.04% or 34.00 points to end at 1085.95 and Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) was down 2.32% or 29.65 points to 1250.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which rose 2.00% to 1742.80, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (BO:APSE) which was up 1.56% to settle at 347.65 and Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which gained 1.21% to close at 508.70.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which was down 3.07% to 3289.80 in late trade, Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which lost 2.25% to settle at 1250.70 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.75% to 345.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 862 to 716 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1433 rose and 1316 declined, while 167 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.32% or 29.65 to 1250.15.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.74% to 11.1125.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.15% or 1.81 to $1225.29 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.30% or 0.14 to hit $46.57 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.13 to trade at $49.47 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.40% to 64.680, while EUR/INR rose 0.22% to 70.4595.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 99.29.
