Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Consumer Durables and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.99% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were ITC Ltd (NS:ITC), which rose 5.01% or 14.40 points to trade at 302.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) added 4.12% or 6.55 points to end at 165.40 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 3.83% or 9.90 points to 268.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which fell 2.36% or 50.25 points to trade at 2083.20 at the close. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) declined 1.57% or 110.25 points to end at 6927.20 and Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) was down 1.08% or 4.30 points to 394.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which rose 5.24% to 302.20, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was up 4.48% to settle at 149.10 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which gained 3.56% to close at 267.70.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.72% to 179.60 in late trade, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which lost 1.44% to settle at 394.25 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 1.04% to 261.95 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1065 to 539 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1613 rose and 920 declined, while 158 ended unchanged.
Shares in ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.01% or 14.40 to 302.55. Shares in ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) rose to 52-week highs; rising 5.24% or 15.05 to 302.20.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.35% to 12.3100.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.61% or 7.50 to $1218.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.20% or 0.14 to hit $69.47 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $74.50 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 68.705, while EUR/INR rose 0.00% to 79.9380.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 94.63.
