Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Real Estate and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.96%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.97%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL), which rose 8.21% or 46.75 points to trade at 612.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) added 6.44% or 35.40 points to end at 584.10 and Ambuja Cements Ltd. (NS:ABUJ) was up 7.13% or 17.70 points to 261.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (NS:IOC), which fell 4.71% or 19.05 points to trade at 385.60 at the close. Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN) declined 2.45% or 15.10 points to end at 601.85 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was down 1.15% or 2.25 points to 193.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which rose 7.83% to 613.70, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 6.32% to settle at 583.40 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 3.18% to close at 2178.95.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.20% to 193.55 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which lost 0.70% to settle at 374.85 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 0.70% to 163.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1372 to 231 and 27 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2117 rose and 617 declined, while 115 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 8.70% to 17.7725.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.13% or 1.70 to $1312.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.74% or 0.46 to hit $61.33 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.69% or 0.45 to trade at $65.06 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.18% to 64.285, while EUR/INR fell 0.22% to 78.6630.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 90.35.
