Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Auto and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.48%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.40%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which rose 5.86% or 59.35 points to trade at 1,071.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) added 5.13% or 219.05 points to end at 4,487.90 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was up 4.27% or 135.45 points to 3,311.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL), which fell 1.21% or 31.15 points to trade at 2,548.45 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) declined 1.13% or 11.35 points to end at 995.40 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) was down 1.13% or 4.35 points to 382.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 5.79% to 1,070.85, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 2.22% to settle at 2,430.10 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 1.44% to close at 1,419.85.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.22% to 2,548.10 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 1.14% to settle at 382.10 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 1.12% to 994.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1032 to 874 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1700 rose and 1654 declined, while 122 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.40% to 12.86.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.06% or 19.75 to $1,845.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.14% or 0.90 to hit $78.16 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.92% or 0.79 to trade at $84.79 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 82.83, while EUR/INR fell 0.23% to 88.80.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 103.42.
