Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Real Estate and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.34% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.48%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which rose 4.32% or 11.95 points to trade at 288.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Axis Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) added 2.54% or 27.05 points to end at 1,090.00 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was up 2.53% or 35.80 points to 1,452.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which fell 3.85% or 186.90 points to trade at 4,665.70 at the close. Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) declined 2.86% or 13.20 points to end at 447.80 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) was down 2.58% or 219.70 points to 8,290.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 4.16% to 287.95, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was up 2.59% to settle at 1,453.75 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which gained 2.32% to close at 1,088.30.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.55% to 4,038.00 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 1.03% to settle at 1,603.50 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 0.86% to 1,660.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1108 to 1039 and 40 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1879 rose and 1818 declined, while 92 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.34% to 16.07.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.67% or 13.65 to $2,037.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.96% or 0.75 to hit $77.71 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.80% or 0.67 to trade at $82.89 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 82.95, while EUR/INR rose 0.11% to 89.61.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 104.02.
