Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Chemicals and Industrials sectors led shares higher while losses in the Media, Financial Services and Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.14% to hit a new 3-months high, while the MDAX index lost 0.81%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.00%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 5.09% or 6.150 points to trade at 127.050 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 1.93% or 0.177 points to end at 9.326 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was up 1.67% or 0.275 points to 16.715 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which fell 3.13% or 0.96 points to trade at 29.68 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 2.19% or 0.475 points to end at 21.250 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) was down 2.04% or 0.935 points to 44.800.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which rose 1.09% to 30.575, Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was up 1.08% to settle at 31.755 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which gained 1.06% to close at 38.705.
The worst performers were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 17.91% to 44.000 in late trade, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which lost 4.44% to settle at 58.160 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which was down 3.55% to 26.340 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG O.N. (DE:DRIG) which rose 2.79% to 37.000, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was up 2.42% to settle at 59.150 and Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which gained 2.01% to close at 21.280.
The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 5.08% to 9.321 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which lost 4.22% to settle at 4.173 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 2.53% to 94.060 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 502 to 395 and 26 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.25% to 18.74.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.12% or 1.50 to $1252.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.77% or 0.34 to hit $43.84 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.03% or 0.47 to trade at $45.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1309, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.7891.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 94.46.
