Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Food & Beverages and Software sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.98%, while the MDAX index declined 0.70%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.76%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 0.84% or 0.115 points to trade at 13.805 at the close. Meanwhile, RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 0.54% or 0.060 points to end at 11.075 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 0.24% or 0.030 points to 12.315 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn), which fell 4.77% or 2.980 points to trade at 59.520 at the close. K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) declined 3.08% or 0.605 points to end at 19.020 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was down 2.97% or 0.420 points to 13.745.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which rose 1.60% to 55.760, Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (DE:RHKG) which was up 1.18% to settle at 28.270 and Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which gained 0.90% to close at 26.900.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which was down 4.53% to 23.515 in late trade, Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which lost 3.11% to settle at 43.738 and Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was down 3.05% to 66.190 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 5.02% to 4.351, QSC AG NA O.N. (DE:QSCG) which was up 2.56% to settle at 1.240 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which gained 1.09% to close at 44.780.
The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 3.69% to 9.925 in late trade, Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which lost 3.44% to settle at 32.750 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 2.51% to 22.375 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 515 to 299 and 33 ended unchanged.
Shares in Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (DE:RHKG) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.18% or 0.330 to 28.270.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.00% to 23.53.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.29% or 15.80 to $1239.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.20% or 0.83 to hit $36.92 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.16% or 0.86 to trade at $38.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1387, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8084.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 94.42.
