Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.18%, while the MDAX index fell 0.75%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.85%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG), which rose 2.01% or 2.300 points to trade at 116.450 at the close. Meanwhile, Daimler AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DAIGn) added 1.28% or 1.120 points to end at 88.720 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) was up 0.82% or 0.580 points to 71.010 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which fell 2.88% or 0.385 points to trade at 12.985 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) declined 1.47% or 0.160 points to end at 10.750 and E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) was down 1.36% or 0.195 points to 14.110.
The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which rose 2.81% to 60.260, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was up 0.78% to settle at 28.445 and Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which gained 0.04% to close at 11.415.
The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was down 3.17% to 108.450 in late trade, Leoni AG NA O.N. (XETRA:LEOGn) which lost 2.90% to settle at 58.210 and Aareal Bank AG (XETRA:ARLG) which was down 2.85% to 39.700 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 4.12% to 4.376, LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was up 2.04% to settle at 10.500 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which gained 0.52% to close at 124.500.
The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which was down 11.30% to 60.990 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which lost 10.14% to settle at 11.385 and Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was down 4.04% to 5.819 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 558 to 175 and 36 ended unchanged.
Shares in Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.12% or 0.173 to 4.376.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.99% to 19.02.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.60% or 7.20 to $1204.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 3.76% or 1.85 to hit $51.06 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 4.68% or 2.65 to trade at $59.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.67% to 1.0896, while EUR/GBP fell 0.49% to 0.7336.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 97.51.
