Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Retail, Technology and Software sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 2.02%, while the MDAX index fell 2.42%, and the TecDAX index lost 3.35%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which fell 0.11% or 0.06 points to trade at 54.46 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Wohnen AG (DE:DWNG) fell 0.66% or 0.270 points to end at 40.760 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was down 0.82% or 0.068 points to 8.273 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which fell 5.35% or 0.090 points to trade at 1.590 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) declined 3.74% or 0.850 points to end at 21.855 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) was down 3.66% or 5.180 points to 136.240.
The top performers on the MDAX were Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which rose 2.01% to 54.740, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which was up 1.33% to settle at 4.585 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which gained 0.71% to close at 7.136.
The worst performers were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) which was down 7.65% to 89.76 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 6.57% to settle at 23.470 and Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) which was down 5.71% to 68.55 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which rose 0.26% to 41.990, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was unchanged 0.00% to settle at 119.700 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which lost 0.73% to close at 14.633.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 6.57% to 23.470 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 6.15% to settle at 10.615 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 5.61% to 326.400 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 552 to 113 and 70 ended unchanged.
Shares in Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.01% or 1.080 to 54.740.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 8.93% to 27.08.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.36% or 6.75 to $1896.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.73% or 0.30 to hit $40.77 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.02% or 0.44 to trade at $42.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1637, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.9106.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 94.377.
