Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 2.70% to hit a new 3-months low, while the SBF 120 index lost 2.77%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB), which rose 0.05% or 0.02 points to trade at 37.44 at the close. Meanwhile, Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) fell 0.58% or 5.00 points to end at 854.80 and Worldline SA (PA:WLN) was down 0.69% or 0.52 points to 75.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which fell 5.83% or 0.99 points to trade at 16.05 at the close. BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) declined 5.03% or 2.19 points to end at 41.38 and Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) was down 5.00% or 4.20 points to 79.74.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which rose 2.45% to 121.10, Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which was up 1.50% to settle at 10.17 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which gained 0.96% to close at 294.00.
The worst performers were Natixis (PA:CNAT) which was down 6.15% to 2.47 in late trade, Alten SA (PA:LTEN) which lost 6.08% to settle at 90.30 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) which was down 5.83% to 16.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 501 to 109 and 56 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 43.72% to 28.24 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.31% or 5.80 to $1883.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 3.66% or 1.80 to hit $47.44 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 3.58% or 1.87 to trade at $50.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.2214, while EUR/GBP rose 1.17% to 0.9174.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 90.302.
