Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.14%, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.10%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which rose 0.62% or 0.80 points to trade at 129.20 at the close. Meanwhile, EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX) added 0.34% or 0.45 points to end at 130.95 and Thales (PA:TCFP) was up 0.29% or 0.30 points to 105.25 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which fell 4.65% or 0.760 points to trade at 15.600 at the close. TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) declined 3.34% or 0.73 points to end at 21.15 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was down 2.24% or 0.280 points to 12.208.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were ALD SA (PA:ALDA) which rose 2.28% to 13.48, Covivio SA (PA:CVO) which was up 0.74% to settle at 94.90 and Altran Technologies SA (PA:ALTT) which gained 0.66% to close at 14.500.

The worst performers were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) which was down 4.65% to 15.600 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 4.28% to settle at 2.414 and Technicolor (PA:TCH) which was down 4.11% to 0.816 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 346 to 205 and 96 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 7.24% to 18.76.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.90% or 28.65 to $1537.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.56% or 1.97 to hit $53.38 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.34% or 1.40 to trade at $58.52 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.54% to 1.1138, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.9079.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 97.613.
