Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.07% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Orange SA (EPA:ORAN), which rose 1.05% or 0.12 points to trade at 11.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) added 0.69% or 0.32 points to end at 46.07 and Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) was up 0.24% or 0.14 points to 57.36 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kering SA (EPA:PRTP), which fell 3.51% or 12.60 points to trade at 346.10 at the close. Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) declined 3.26% or 1.86 points to end at 55.12 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) was down 2.84% or 18.90 points to 647.40.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which rose 4.96% to 4.17, Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which was up 2.59% to settle at 6.01 and SCOR SE (EPA:SCOR) which gained 2.45% to close at 28.04.
The worst performers were CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which was down 9.94% to 0.46 in late trade, Forvia (EPA:FRVIA) which lost 6.92% to settle at 17.21 and Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which was down 5.67% to 19.64 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 368 to 158 and 81 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 3.51% or 12.60 to 346.10. Shares in Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) rose to 52-week highs; up 0.69% or 0.32 to 46.07. Shares in LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.84% or 18.90 to 647.40. Shares in CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) fell to 3-years lows; down 9.94% or 0.05 to 0.46.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.09% or 22.10 to $2,008.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.20% or 0.87 to hit $71.65 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.49% or 1.17 to trade at $77.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.40% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 103.31.
