Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.51%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which rose 2.71% or 0.96 points to trade at 36.54 at the close. Meanwhile, Danone SA (EPA:DANO) added 1.33% or 0.72 points to end at 54.66 and Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) was up 0.60% or 0.18 points to 30.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which fell 2.72% or 0.74 points to trade at 26.45 at the close. BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP) declined 2.14% or 1.23 points to end at 56.29 and Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) was down 1.81% or 0.43 points to 23.09.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which rose 15.08% to 2.40, Ipsos (EPA:ISOS) which was up 3.65% to settle at 51.10 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) which gained 2.71% to close at 36.54.
The worst performers were Rubis SCA (EPA:RUBF) which was down 4.25% to 23.88 in late trade, Alten SA (EPA:LTEN) which lost 3.16% to settle at 147.10 and Ovh Groupe SAS (EPA:OVH) which was down 2.97% to 9.49 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 300 to 211 and 103 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.14% or 2.75 to $1,971.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.97% or 2.03 to hit $70.30 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.86% or 2.09 to trade at $75.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.02% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.73% at 101.78.
