Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Financials and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.26% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.17%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale (PA:SOGN), which rose 5.76% or 2.35 points to trade at 43.26 at the close. Meanwhile, BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) added 4.59% or 2.54 points to end at 57.84 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) was up 3.87% or 0.420 points to 11.275 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Technip (PA:TECF), which fell 1.04% or 0.71 points to trade at 67.26 at the close. Airbus Group (PA:AIR) declined 0.80% or 0.48 points to end at 59.40 and Sodexo (PA:EXHO) was down 0.78% or 0.80 points to 102.10.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which rose 16.05% to 22.630, Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) which was up 5.76% to settle at 43.26 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) which gained 4.59% to close at 57.84.
The worst performers were Nexans (PA:NEXS) which was down 1.74% to 48.15 in late trade, SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which lost 1.71% to settle at 126.25 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech (PA:STDM) which was down 1.34% to 59.70 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 422 to 264 and 110 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 6.19% to 16.61 a new 1-month low.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.52% or 6.15 to $1170.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.87% or 0.97 to hit $50.82 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.75% or 0.96 to trade at $53.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.55% to 1.0705, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8448.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 100.58.
