Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Healthcare and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.28%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN), which rose 2.92% or 1.47 points to trade at 51.84 at the close. Meanwhile, Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) added 1.74% or 0.33 points to end at 19.02 and Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) was up 1.46% or 1.75 points to 121.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale (PA:SOGN), which fell 1.96% or 0.99 points to trade at 49.58 at the close. Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) declined 1.68% or 1.12 points to end at 65.56 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) was down 1.01% or 0.145 points to 14.240.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Neopost (PA:NPOS) which rose 3.80% to 38.50, Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) which was up 2.92% to settle at 51.84 and Nexans (PA:NEXS) which gained 2.64% to close at 51.65.
The worst performers were Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) which was down 1.96% to 49.58 in late trade, Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which lost 1.84% to settle at 26.125 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was down 1.68% to 65.56 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 387 to 235 and 80 ended unchanged.
Shares in Neopost (PA:NPOS) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.80% or 1.41 to 38.50.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.90% to 14.28 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.75% or 9.17 to $1217.93 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.10% or 0.51 to hit $45.92 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.07% or 0.53 to trade at $48.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.45% to 1.0875, while EUR/GBP fell 0.41% to 0.8405.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 99.48.
