France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 7.30%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 7.30% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 7.24%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which rose 22.15% or 7.62 points to trade at 42.02 at the close. Meanwhile, Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) added 17.27% or 12.09 points to end at 82.09 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) was up 16.62% or 2.17 points to 15.25 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF), which fell 4.62% or 13.50 points to trade at 278.60 at the close. Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) declined 0.55% or 0.85 points to end at 153.35 and Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) was up 0.31% or 2.60 points to 837.00.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which rose 40.62% to 18.73, Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) which was up 30.21% to settle at 4.64 and Klepierre SA (PA:LOIM) which gained 28.16% to close at 14.65.

The worst performers were Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which was down 11.37% to 118.50 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which lost 11.35% to settle at 317.00 and Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) which was down 8.45% to 672.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 461 to 158 and 48 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.76% to 23.73.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 4.71% or 92.00 to $1859.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 9.83% or 3.65 to hit $40.79 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 8.67% or 3.42 to trade at $42.87 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1827, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8996.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 92.748.
