Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.87%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.88%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which rose 6.16% or 1.04 points to trade at 17.98 at the close. Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) added 2.99% or 0.37 points to end at 12.73 and Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) was up 2.65% or 1.52 points to 58.82 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP), which fell 1.75% or 1.54 points to trade at 86.66 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 1.57% or 0.72 points to end at 45.21 and Kering SA (PA:PRTP) was down 0.91% or 4.00 points to 436.05.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Renault SA (PA:RENA) which rose 6.16% to 17.98, SES (PA:SESFd) which was up 5.10% to settle at 6.27 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which gained 4.98% to close at 236.20.
The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 6.34% to 5.02 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 5.24% to settle at 0.843 and JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which was down 4.47% to 17.52 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 287 to 273 and 92 ended unchanged.
Shares in Genfit (PA:GNFT) fell to 5-year lows; losing 6.34% or 0.34 to 5.02.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 10.28% to 27.93.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.18% or 3.15 to $1748.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 3.35% or 1.07 to hit $33.03 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.31% or 0.80 to trade at $35.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.0977, while EUR/GBP rose 0.72% to 0.8975.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 99.213.
