Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.54%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 2.88% or 0.444 points to trade at 15.844 at the close. Meanwhile, Atos SE (PA:ATOS) added 2.40% or 1.78 points to end at 76.08 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) was up 2.02% or 8.00 points to 404.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Thales (PA:TCFP), which fell 1.08% or 0.98 points to trade at 90.00 at the close. Renault SA (PA:RENA) declined 0.76% or 0.34 points to end at 43.80 and Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) was down 0.72% or 1.20 points to 165.30.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which rose 5.52% to 102.30, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which was up 4.76% to settle at 140.90 and Alten SA (PA:LTEN) which gained 3.96% to close at 105.00.
The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 2.94% to 13.550 in late trade, SES (PA:SESFd) which lost 2.01% to settle at 12.21 and Thales (PA:TCFP) which was down 1.08% to 90.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 354 to 249 and 73 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 9.90% to 11.42.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.51% or 7.55 to $1462.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $57.81 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $62.36 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1006, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.8538.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 98.270.
