Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Industrials and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.37% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which rose 5.12% or 2.06 points to trade at 42.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) added 2.63% or 1.48 points to end at 57.73 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) was up 2.57% or 0.36 points to 14.19 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which fell 15.03% or 2.13 points to trade at 12.04 at the close. Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) declined 1.11% or 0.94 points to end at 83.65 and Danone SA (EPA:DANO) was down 1.02% or 0.59 points to 57.53.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which rose 24.48% to 0.60, STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) which was up 5.12% to settle at 42.20 and Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) which gained 5.10% to close at 10.10.
The worst performers were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which was down 15.03% to 12.04 in late trade, Coface (EPA:COFA) which lost 6.07% to settle at 10.99 and Lectra SA (EPA:LECS) which was down 3.42% to 28.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 270 to 240 and 102 ended unchanged.
Shares in Coface (EPA:COFA) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.07% or 0.71 to 10.99.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.06% or 1.10 to $1,965.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.04% or 0.81 to hit $77.45 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.58 to trade at $81.89 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.30% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 104.18.
