Investing.com – China stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Travel & Leisure, Life Insurance and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite declined 1.03%, while the SZSE Component index declined 1.55%.
The best performers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Tande (SS:600665), which rose 10.06% or 0.650 points to trade at 7.110 at the close. Meanwhile, Dongan Auto (SS:600178) added 10.05% or 1.110 points to end at 12.160 and Citychamp (SS:600067) was up 10.05% or 0.890 points to 9.750 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yunsheng (SS:600366), which fell 10.00% or 3.510 points to trade at 31.580 at the close. Hongtu Hi-Tech (SS:600122) declined 9.87% or 1.620 points to end at 14.800 and Tibet Pharma (SS:600211) was down 8.06% or 4.360 points to 49.750.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Shanghai Metersbonwe Fashion&Accessories Co Ltd (SZ:002269) which rose 10.05% to 11.72, Invengo Information Technology Co Ltd (SZ:002161) which was up 10.03% to settle at 17.99 and Lu Thai Textile Co Ltd (SZ:000726) which gained 10.03% to close at 17.45.
The worst performers were Focused Photonics Hangzhou Inc (SZ:300203) which was down 9.99% to 33.88 in late trade, Songcheng Performance Develop (SZ:300144) which lost 9.87% to settle at 60.39 and Westone Information Industry Inc (SZ:002268) which was down 8.41% to 65.68 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 657 to 312.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was up 9.40% to 32.02.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.70% or 7.70 to $1115.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $43.08 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $49.70 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 1.80% to 6.4389, while EUR/CNY rose 2.32% to 7.1456.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 96.83.
