(Reuters) - Chinese regulators held an emergency meeting with domestic and foreign banks to discuss how they could protect China's overseas assets from U.S.-led sanctions similar to those imposed on Russia after its invasion of Ukraine, The Financial Times reported, citing people familiar with the discussion.

The internal conference, held on April 22, included officials from China's central bank and finance ministry and executives from local and international banks, the report said.

The US and the West are isolating themselves thanks to poor leadership. It’s becoming increasingly clear that their citizens are living in a bubble; they represent only a small portion of the world’s population. Very unfortunate.

There must be consequences, when you set out to invade a peaceful nation, ******10's of thousands of civilians. Russia and china can turn the blind eye to such atrocities, because their view on human lifes is different

This shows China has something to hide with their collusion with Russia or they are starting a war in Asia?

The only way is to completely isolate itself, and in doing so reduce China to the dark ages. That's what war does.

The arrogance of the US seizing assets is breathtaking. It also violates the rule of law established for centuries, especially taking assets just because one knows Putin or some other association. These stupid people in Washington along with the insane neocons will most definitely start ww3. World peace is accomplished through free trade where everyone bennifits. There is no way in ********the US will beat Russia and China together. Unbearable stupidity.

It's not just the US. It's also many other democratically run governments - which means many intelligent minds go into making the decision.

If other countries want to behave like barbarians, they're welcome to not do business with the US. Nobody forces anyone to do that. Other countries impose their will on trading partners constantly. China included. If you're working against the US by supporting our enemies, why would you expect to be given a pass? If China imposes sanctions against another country, they are welcome to seize assets as well. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
