Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Electric Power and Public Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.69%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which rose 2.51% or 0.26 points to trade at 10.61 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 1.97% or 0.44 points to end at 22.83 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was up 0.51% or 0.13 points to 25.54 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which fell 4.01% or 0.76 points to trade at 18.19 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) declined 3.67% or 0.71 points to end at 18.64 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was down 3.33% or 0.49 points to 14.23.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 209 to 128 and 31 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 10.36% to 35.04.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.00% or 0.05 to $1323.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.47% or 0.69 to hit $47.74 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.93% or 2.95 to trade at $150.23 .
USD/BRL was up 1.28% to 3.2595, while EUR/BRL rose 1.31% to 3.6578.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 95.42.
