Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumption and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.48% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which rose 4.13% or 1.27 points to trade at 32.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) added 4.02% or 2.49 points to end at 64.49 and Engie Brasil Energia SA (SA:EGIE3) was up 3.64% or 1.21 points to 34.41 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which fell 3.55% or 0.23 points to trade at 6.24 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) declined 2.69% or 0.34 points to end at 12.28 and Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) was down 2.59% or 0.37 points to 13.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 184 to 164 and 37 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.55% or 0.23 to 6.24. Shares in Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.59% or 0.37 to 13.90.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 6.43% to 30.25 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.18% or 2.25 to $1256.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.63% or 0.28 to hit $44.74 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.49% or 1.88 to trade at $123.90 .
USD/BRL was up 0.51% to 3.2919, while EUR/BRL rose 1.00% to 3.6867.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 97.13.
