Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 3.77% or 0.38 points to trade at 10.45 at the close. Meanwhile, CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) added 2.92% or 0.28 points to end at 9.88 and Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3) was up 2.84% or 0.83 points to 30.07 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which fell 3.13% or 0.14 points to trade at 4.33 at the close. Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) declined 3.09% or 0.32 points to end at 10.03 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was down 2.43% or 0.38 points to 15.25.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 202 to 156 and 35 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.56% to 33.96.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.71% or 21.45 to $1275.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.49% or 0.26 to hit $53.34 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 0.34% or 0.47 to trade at $140.27 .
USD/BRL was up 0.29% to 3.1411, while EUR/BRL rose 0.37% to 3.3312.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 100.62.
