Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.65%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which rose 2.58% or 0.16 points to trade at 6.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) added 1.47% or 0.42 points to end at 28.96 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was up 1.34% or 0.42 points to 31.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which fell 4.76% or 2.31 points to trade at 46.22 at the close. Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) declined 4.43% or 2.08 points to end at 44.82 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) was down 3.80% or 0.25 points to 6.33.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 185 to 141 and 35 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.53% to 34.50.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.71% or 8.40 to $1172.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $53.74 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.79% or 1.14 to trade at $142.68 .
USD/BRL was up 0.78% to 3.2238, while EUR/BRL rose 0.07% to 3.3955.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.77% at 102.17.
