Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 3.35%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which rose 12.95% or 0.36 points to trade at 3.14 at the close. Meanwhile, Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 7.84% or 0.21 points to end at 2.89 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) was up 7.75% or 0.50 points to 6.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which fell 3.52% or 0.310 points to trade at 8.500 at the close. Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) declined 2.48% or 0.20 points to end at 7.85 and BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3) was down 1.98% or 0.23 points to 11.37.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 221 to 85 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.52% or 0.310 to 8.500. Shares in Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) fell to 5-year lows; losing 2.48% or 0.20 to 7.85.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 9.04% to 46.01.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.36% or 15.50 to $1122.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.13% or 0.45 to hit $38.87 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.83% or 1.00 to trade at $121.83 .
USD/BRL was down 0.39% to 3.6031, while EUR/BRL fell 2.06% to 4.0793.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.47% at 95.30.
