Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 2.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which rose 16.45% or 1.15 points to trade at 8.14 at the close. Meanwhile, Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 11.70% or 0.22 points to end at 2.10 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) was up 8.93% or 0.77 points to 9.39 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which fell 5.49% or 0.73 points to trade at 12.57 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) declined 5.13% or 1.58 points to end at 29.20 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was down 1.90% or 0.39 points to 20.16.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 204 to 96 and 13 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.06% to 36.38.
Gold for August delivery was up 1.36% or 17.00 to $1264.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.36% or 1.19 to hit $51.55 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 5.29% or 6.98 to trade at $138.90 .
USD/BRL was down 2.18% to 3.3681, while EUR/BRL fell 1.86% to 3.8381.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 93.59.
