Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.73% to hit a new 3-years high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which rose 5.77% or 0.62 points to trade at 11.37 at the close. Meanwhile, Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) added 5.03% or 0.48 points to end at 10.02 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) was up 4.99% or 2.08 points to 43.78 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3), which fell 1.15% or 0.18 points to trade at 15.44 at the close. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 0.87% or 0.11 points to end at 12.59 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was down 0.60% or 0.35 points to 58.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 215 to 132 and 32 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.77% or 0.62 to 11.37. Shares in Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) rose to 3-years highs; rising 4.99% or 2.08 to 43.78.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.79% to 31.41 a new 1-month low.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.52% or 6.55 to $1263.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.88% or 0.44 to hit $50.38 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.00% or 1.57 to trade at $158.55 .
USD/BRL was down 0.44% to 3.1880, while EUR/BRL fell 0.66% to 3.4993.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 97.89.
