Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.54% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 10.63% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.29 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 9.92% or 1.20 points to end at 13.30 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) was up 9.19% or 0.68 points to 8.08 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which fell 2.78% or 0.62 points to trade at 21.65 at the close. Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) declined 1.70% or 0.26 points to end at 15.06 and CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) was down 1.32% or 0.20 points to 15.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 183 to 112 and 27 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) rose to 3-years highs; rising 9.92% or 1.20 to 13.30.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 6.45% to 44.69 a new 1-month low.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.41% or 17.40 to $1252.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.06% or 1.26 to hit $42.45 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.35% or 1.70 to trade at $127.67 .
USD/BRL was down 2.26% to 3.5328, while EUR/BRL fell 1.89% to 4.0134.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.43% at 94.04.
