Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.31%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3), which rose 5.58% or 0.67 points to trade at 12.67 at the close. Meanwhile, Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) added 5.33% or 0.75 points to end at 14.81 and Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA:SANB11) was up 5.07% or 1.34 points to 27.78 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3), which fell 2.17% or 0.29 points to trade at 13.05 at the close. MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3) declined 1.67% or 0.26 points to end at 15.30 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) was down 1.19% or 0.24 points to 19.94.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 246 to 117 and 33 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.94% to 31.36.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.15% or 1.83 to $1230.43 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.00% or 0.91 to hit $46.43 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.59% or 0.80 to trade at $135.85 .
USD/BRL was down 0.34% to 3.1788, while EUR/BRL fell 0.25% to 3.4953.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 98.45.
