Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which rose 6.96% or 0.71 points to trade at 10.91 at the close. Meanwhile, Multiplan SA (SA:MULT3) added 4.96% or 2.89 points to end at 61.20 and CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) was up 4.34% or 0.74 points to 17.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BM&FBovespa SA (SA:BVMF3), which fell 3.07% or 0.55 points to trade at 17.36 at the close. Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) declined 3.00% or 2.23 points to end at 72.20 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) was down 2.70% or 0.100 points to 3.610.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 173 to 162 and 31 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.06% to 32.71.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.43% or 5.65 to $1317.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.64% or 1.18 to hit $43.52 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 2.96% or 4.35 to trade at $151.12 .
USD/BRL was up 0.86% to 3.2541, while EUR/BRL rose 1.27% to 3.6443.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.39% at 95.64.
