Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumption, Financials and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which rose 8.58% or 0.60 points to trade at 7.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) added 4.53% or 1.36 points to end at 31.35 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 3.59% or 0.54 points to 15.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which fell 11.11% or 0.40 points to trade at 3.20 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) declined 6.07% or 0.74 points to end at 11.46 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was down 4.02% or 1.26 points to 30.06.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 158 to 131 and 25 ended unchanged.
Shares in Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.07% or 0.74 to 11.46. Shares in Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.02% or 1.26 to 30.06.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.31% to 57.20 a new 6-months high.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.02% or 12.40 to $1231.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.88% or 0.67 to hit $36.37 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 1.21% or 1.48 to trade at $121.05 .
USD/BRL was up 1.44% to 3.6776, while EUR/BRL rose 1.47% to 4.1898.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 94.59.
