Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electric Power, Public Utilities and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were WEG SA (SA:WEGE3), which rose 3.06% or 0.58 points to trade at 19.54 at the close. Meanwhile, Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) added 2.68% or 0.52 points to end at 19.90 and Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) was up 2.62% or 0.72 points to 28.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which fell 3.90% or 0.30 points to trade at 7.40 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) declined 2.14% or 0.38 points to end at 17.34 and BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) was down 1.67% or 0.77 points to 45.25.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 200 to 194 and 46 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.88% to 38.62.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.41% or 5.18 to $1262.92 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.58% or 0.29 to hit $49.51 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.61% or 0.80 to trade at $132.02 .
USD/BRL was up 0.13% to 3.2617, while EUR/BRL rose 0.42% to 3.6511.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 97.16.
