Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which rose 5.23% or 0.45 points to trade at 9.06 at the close. Meanwhile, Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) added 3.09% or 0.35 points to end at 11.69 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) was up 3.08% or 0.28 points to 9.38 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which fell 3.96% or 0.66 points to trade at 16.00 at the close. Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) declined 3.08% or 0.24 points to end at 7.56 and BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3) was down 2.55% or 0.33 points to 12.62.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 149 to 144 and 26 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.43% to 37.82.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.50% or 6.80 to $1365.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.51% or 1.17 to hit $47.77 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.56% or 2.27 to trade at $143.35 .
USD/BRL was up 1.05% to 3.3381, while EUR/BRL rose 1.36% to 3.7087.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 96.15.
