Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3), which rose 4.07% or 0.28 points to trade at 7.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 3.27% or 0.55 points to end at 17.39 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was up 3.06% or 0.33 points to 11.13 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which fell 5.41% or 0.40 points to trade at 6.99 at the close. Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) declined 3.46% or 1.16 points to end at 32.34 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was down 2.84% or 0.60 points to 20.55.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 135 to 133 and 22 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.99% to 36.36 a new 6-months low.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.08% or 1.00 to $1246.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.41% or 0.70 to hit $50.39 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.24% or 0.32 to trade at $131.92 .
USD/BRL was down 1.18% to 3.4482, while EUR/BRL fell 1.15% to 3.9164.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 93.86.
