Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Financials and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.99% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 8.63% or 0.65 points to trade at 8.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Magazine Luiza SA (SA:MGLU3) added 7.55% or 8.65 points to end at 123.16 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was up 5.81% or 0.44 points to 8.01 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3), which fell 2.47% or 0.69 points to trade at 27.25 at the close. Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) declined 2.14% or 1.15 points to end at 52.53 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was down 1.40% or 0.28 points to 19.67.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 282 to 133 and 42 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.49% to 32.54.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.22% or 2.70 to $1247.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.06% or 0.04 to hit $70.34 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.28% or 0.31 to trade at $111.72 .
USD/BRL was up 0.18% to 3.8842, while EUR/BRL rose 0.18% to 4.5336.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 94.56.
